FETE DE LA MUSIQUEPosted by aaxan (Tokyo, Japan) on 22 June 2007 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio. First of all, I want to say my best thanks to those of you who have given me lots of warm and kind comments. They really gave me the courage to continue learning photography. And today, I have to postpone one of the photos of Venice to introduce to you the special event that took place yesterday, June 21th, it's FETE DE LA MUSIC (World music day) in Paris. Everywhere you go, there are people playing music, non-stop, over-night. Classic, jazz, rock, ballad, latin, etc.. whatever you want, just pick the band, go to the place and enjoy. They are 100% FREE. ^^; This picture was taken from outside a church next to MUSE DU LOUVRE. The singers were singing so passionately. The rythm was so beautiful. And this is something I found about this event. The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day is a festival taking place on June 21, it's also the summer solstice most of the time. It began in France and has since spread to Belgium, Britain, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Israel (in Tel-Aviv), China, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan and other countries. New York City will host its first festival in 2007. The idea was conceived by French Music and Dance director Maurice Fleuret for Minister of Culture Jack Lang in 1981 and first took place in 1982. It is the occasion of a mass celebration which has grown more and more successful over the last two decades. Its purpose is to promote music in two ways: Amateur musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets. The slogan Faites de la musique (Make music), a homophone of Fête de la Musique, is used to promote this goal. Source: Wikipedia CHEERS. Have a nice day.
